ARTADI named best cellar of the year by Guía Peñín 2014

Bodegas y Viñedos ARTADI has been chosen as the Best Spanish Cellar of the year in the new edition of the prestigious Guía Peñín. According to the tasting committee, ARTADI has managed to place several references among the “exceptional wines” of this edition.

Among the wines of the 2011 vintage, that will be released before Christmas, outstands the rating obtained by ARTADI El Carretil (98 points). This wine is part of the three ARTADI Single Vineyard wines that will present their third vintage this year.

The podium of the best rated wines of this edition includes also ARTADI La Poza de Ballesteros (97 points) and Viña El Pisón (97 points), the wine that has been among the most appreciated in its last vintages.

The awards ceremony took place last Wednesday at the Ferrocarril Museum of Madrid, one day before the celebration of the Salon of the Best Wines of Spain, where ARTADI also was present.

Juan Carlos López de Lacalle, the owner of the cellar, received the award from Carlos González, the director of the guide, who highlighted the improvement of the quality of the Spanish wines throughout the last years.

The ratings obtained by ARTADI wines in the 2014 Edition of the Guía Peñín have been:

  • ARTADI El Carretil 2011:  98 points
  • Viña El Pisón 2011:  97 points
  • ARTADI La Poza de Ballesteros 2011:  97 points
  • ARTADI Valdeginés 2011:  96 points
  • ARTADI Pagos Viejos 2011:  95 points
  • ARTADI Viñas de Gain 2011:  94 points
  • ARTADI Viñas de Gain Blanco 2010:  93 points

Besides, the wines from the other wineries of the group, Bodegas y Viñedos Artazu (D.O. Navarra) and Bodegas y Viñedos El Sequé (D.O. Alicante), have obtained outstanding scores:

  • Santa Cruz de Artazu 2011:  94 points
  • El Sequé 2011:  94 points
  • El Sequé Dulce 2011:  93 points

For the 2014 edition, the tasting committee has scored more than 10.000 wines that have gained an average score of 87,8 points. Only the 32 % of the tasted references is over 90 points, thus all the wines from Artadi, Artazu and El Sequé are placed in the best quality area.

The publication, founded by the journalist José Peñín, has more than two decades of career and is one of the most important references in the Spanish and international wine sector.
